New to the 20V MAX* System, which now features over 200 products, the ATOMIC™ Compact Series combines performance and durability in a compact format. TOWSON, MD – DEWALT announces the ATOMIC™ Compact Series, part of the 20V MAX* System, available throughout 20. One thing we love is the “Atomic” name for their compact or sub-compact tool category very clear and easy to remember however they don’t actually use it on their tools or name of the tool or in description of the tool or literally anywhere on their product pages of website so is this just a press release name or a secret menu thing? Why are they not using it on anything becuase it’s pretty sweet? More to come very soon, in the meantime check out the full Dewalt press release below. We are very interested to see how these new Atomic tools stack up to the other compact tools in the market. ![]() The new saws coming in fall are also a little ambiguous, press release below doesn’t even give a blade size for the circ saw (5-3/8” or 6-1/2” or something else) or target price for the recip saw and no saw pictures. The tool weight of only 2.4 lbs puts it in range of Makita’s Sub-Compact 18V black tools or Milwaukee M12 Fuel tools, while the UWO conversion to ft lbs is not very clear this is certainly the intended competition for the new Atomic lineup. So how does power compare to their larger professional drills 340 UWO with atomic vs 460 UWO (DCD792) or 820 UWO (DCD996). Dewalt is jumping into the 18V compact brushless tools with a new Drill Driver and impact driver with a hammer drill, circular saw, oscillating tool and recip saw to follow in several months. We’ve seen the 12V tools get more powerful and the 18v tools get much smaller. We’ve seen big demand in recent years for higher performance tools that are much smaller.
